Wheel set testing system RPA-I 1300

 For so-called heavy maintenance, during which the wheel sets are removed from the rail vehicle, extensive inspection procedures are required to assess the condition of the wheels within the wheel set. For this purpose, the wheel sets must be inspected in the area of the wheel rim and, in particular, on the running surface using a combination of ultrasonic and eddy current testing methods to detect cracks and delaminations.

 High-performance system, simple adjustment

The RPA-I 1300 optimally combines both testing methods with the transport requirements of wheel sets during maintenance operations and is therefore designed as a portal testing system. The wheel sets are rolled into the testing system on rails embedded in the floor, securely centered, and then inspected using two arms equipped with ultrasonic probes and eddy current sensors. Particular emphasis is placed on the option for manual or semi-automatic loading and unloading of the testing system, as well as on simple parameter configuration for frequently changing wheel diameters and easy adjustment of the ultrasonic testing technology. For this purpose, the system software is equipped with user-friendly input interfaces, enabling quick setup and adjustment to different wheel geometries. With a supported wheel diameter range from 650 to 1,100 mm, the user benefits from a highly powerful system for the inspection of railway wheels during heavy maintenance.
