Heavy-plate inspection system

The automated testing system was developed for use in rolling mills and enables the comprehensive inspection of roll-clad heavy plates directly within the production process. By combining geometry measurement, ultrasonic testing and precise layer thickness measurement, all relevant material parameters are reliably captured – even under demanding steel mill operating conditions. The objective is to optimize material yield: precise determination of material distribution helps reduce scrap and significantly increase production efficiency.

The system can be flexibly adapted to a wide range of testing requirements. In addition to standard inspection procedures, further analysis and testing methods can be integrated to meet specific customer needs. Intelligent detection, flexible evaluation

For efficient utilization of the raw plates, the system is equipped with high-performance geometry and measurement technology. In addition to dimensional measurement, shape deviations and surface topologies are also recorded with high precision. The integrated ultrasonic testing system enables reliable detection of volumetric and bonding defects throughout the entire material thickness. Complementing this, the highly precise layer thickness measurement delivers exact results for both the cladding material and the base material. Modern software solutions support the automated evaluation of inspection data and enable differentiated assessments according to various standards. This ensures a high level of process reliability as well as flexible integration into existing production environments.
