Heavy plate testing system GBP 13/4-2
The GBP 13/4-2 heavy plate testing system was developed as an “offline testing system” for demanding use in rolling mills in order to perform automated inspection of heavy plates with high cleanliness requirements directly within the production process. Whether dirt, scale, high temperatures or heavy loads – the ultrasonic testing system for heavy plates fully meets the sometimes challenging requirements found in rolling mills. At the same time, it combines state-of-the-art ultrasonic and automation technology with powerful software solutions.
Practical customization options
In its standard configuration, the system is designed for the inspection of volumetric defects. In addition, it can be equipped with angle beam testing, while the optionally available “analysis scanner” enables local detail scans with significantly increased resolution. Thanks to freely adjustable scan grid sizes and individually adapted probes, local indications can be examined and evaluated with very high precision.
Intelligent detection, flexible evaluation
For efficient utilization of the raw plate, the testing system is equipped with high-performance geometry measurement technology. In addition to dimensional measurement, it also detects the position, number of plates on the table and their topology. Since multiple orders are often cut from a single raw plate, the software supports this process through integrated cutting pattern generation. It also enables differentiated inspection of edge and core zones – even within a single raw plate. Each plate and each order can be evaluated according to different standards. In combination with numerous integrated evaluation algorithms, this results in a high degree of flexibility in plate inspection.
Depending on the system configuration, the contours of the orders, including all plate data, can be marked directly on the material after inspection. This significantly simplifies subsequent cutting processes. An integrated IT interface also enables the fast exchange of production data and inspection results with higher-level ERP systems.
